Starting point:
The Gutenberg International School (GIS) offers a wide range of special courses for international exchange students of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as an addition to the regular course curriculum.
In addition to courses on subjects including History, Culture, Social Sciences and Society, the GIS also provides more general courses for exchange students learning German, like reading courses or conversation classes.

All exchange students of the JGU.

- Tutorium für Incomings: Tutorial - Academic Research and Writing Skills for Students of Humanities, Culture and History
The Tutorial (3 ECTS) introduces students from abroad to the techniques of academic work within the German university context. By attending this tutorial students will be able to meet formal requirements concerning literature research, presentations and term papers which are also very useful for other courses they will attend while studying at the JGU Mainz.
Time: Wednesdays, 12:15 - 13:45

- Introduction to German Grammar
This exercise covers central areas of German grammar such as word order, and sentence structure. The aim is to impart a sound basic knowledge of grammar, which is an essential prerequisite both for studying linguistics and for teaching German in schools.
