On this website of the Writing Center you can find useful information on all courses, programmes and workshops concerning academic writing at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz offered in English. A complete overview of the offers (in German and English) can be found on the German-language version of this page. The various offers are provided by different institutions and are tailored to different target groups

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The writing center offers individual writing consultations for students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines. The consultations take place via the digital writing room on the JGU LMS. Both the appointment booking and an overview of current time slots are available there.

The writing center's Tutor Training for the Promotion of Academic Writing in all subjects starts again this summer term. It takes place from April 16th until Juli 2nd 2025. The registration is open until April 09th..

The tutor training is only offered in German.

The university library UB currently offers the following english online course

 

The AStA-Ausländer*innenreferat offers the Text-Café currently as digital version via email.

 

 

PHILIS of faculty 05 offers a so-called "Writing Marathon" in English via Microsoft Teams and a writing counselling. Appointments are arranged individually.

 

The faculty 06 offers writing counseling especially on the subject of source research and citation for students of FB 06 via Skype or phone.

 
International Workshop: Overcoming A Bad Mood is an english offer by the psycho-social counselling center of JGU.

The General Postgraduate Program (GPP) regularly offers workshops on english academic writing.Currently, there are no writing courses offered in English, however, they offer workshops on a list of other topics relevant to postgraduate researchers in English. For more information, click here.

 
The Writing Center offers a teacher training for the promotion of Academic Writing and Reading in Teaching
